Everyone has favorite brands, like Pepsi or Coke. What do these products have that you don't have as a human being? Marketing. They have all these people saying that one is better than the other and that you should try this one over that one. What if you could do the same thing for yourself? There is no better way to accelerate your career than to create a brand around yourself. It will build confidence and reveal your core beliefs that others can identify with.
When you see certain logos, you automatically know which company is being represented. You don't have to guess when you see General Electric, Microsoft, JC Penney, Starbucks, Best Buy, Macy's, Nordstrom, or Nike. The same is true when you hear certain individuals' names: Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Bill Gates, Lee Iacocca, T. D. Jakes, and Nelson Mandela. You recognize these names because they have branded themselves very well. You can do the same. Through strategically and wisely branding yourself, you can advance your career to the next level.
What is your brand? This is a question every company focuses on as part of branding a business, and one that most leaders consider. A brand is an imprint in the marketplace and for a company it's one of the most important assets. Your personal brand is much the same.
